FAQ

Can I monetize videos that use Dex samples?

Yes. CC BY 4.0 permits commercial use as long as you include attribution. See the License & Attribution tab for copy-paste language.

Where do I put the credit line?

Paste it in your video description (and optionally pin a comment). If space is tight, include the short attribution and link back to the source page.

Will I get a Content ID claim?

Dex releases are intended for reuse. If you receive an automated claim, dispute it with the attribution text and a link to the work’s page; contact legal@dexdsl.org if it doesn’t clear.

What edits are allowed?

Loop, trim, pitch-shift, stretch, EQ, compress, layer, and remix. Please indicate material changes in your description when practical (e.g., “edited, looped, and mixed”).

Do logos fall under CC BY 4.0?

No. Logos and name are trademarks; editorial use is fine. For marketing campaigns or packaging, email press@dexdsl.org.

Can I upload these as standalone tracks to DSPs?

Attribution allows redistribution, but avoid implying exclusive ownership of the underlying source. If in doubt, release as part of your video content or contact us for guidance.

Are stems available?

Some sessions include additional stems or multitracks. Check the ZIP contents or email info@dexdsl.org with the work title.

Education or nonprofit use?

Yes—please use it! CC BY 4.0 is classroom-friendly. We also share lesson notes on request and welcome links to student projects.

Agency/brand campaigns?

Attribution may be sufficient, but some campaigns need additional clearances (e.g., logo usage). Email partners@dexdsl.org with timeline and deliverables.

File specs & best practices?

Most audio is 48kHz/24-bit; export your final at 48kHz to match video platforms. Target ~-14 LUFS integrated for a consistent loudness across channels.
