Privacy Policy

Who we are

Dex Digital Sample Library is operated by DEX CO-OP CORP (EIN 92-3509152), a nonprofit doing business as Dex Digital Sample Library (“Dex,” “we,” “us”). This policy covers our website at dexdsl.org and the services offered there — browsing the catalog, saving favorites, creating an account, and contributing samples.

What we collect

We only collect what we need to run the library and your account.

Information you give us

• Account details. When you sign in we use Auth0 (our identity provider) to manage your login. This includes your email address, name, and any profile information you add — or that comes from a social login you choose to use.
• Contributions. If you submit to the library or respond to a call, we collect the samples, recordings, metadata, and any messages you send us.
• Favorites & preferences. Items you save are stored with your account and cached in your browser.

Information collected automatically

• Aggregate usage analytics — which pages are viewed and how the site performs — via cookieless Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and uses no cross-site identifiers. See Cookies & analytics.

How we use it

• Operate the library and maintain your account.
• Authenticate you and keep your session secure.
• Review, publish, and manage samples you contribute.
• Respond to your messages and requests.
• Understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
• Protect the service and comply with our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising.

Legal bases

Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we process your information on the basis of your consent, to perform a contract with you (running your account), our legitimate interests in operating and improving the library, and to meet legal obligations. You can withdraw consent at any time — see Your rights.

Who we share with

We share personal information only with the service providers that help us run Dex:

• Auth0 / Okta — account authentication.
• Cloudflare — website delivery and cookieless usage analytics.
• GitHub Pages — website hosting.
• Authorities or others when required by law, or to protect rights and safety.

Contributed samples and their metadata are published publicly in the library — see our Copyright & licensing page for how that content is licensed.

Cookies & analytics

• Essential storage. We use cookies and browser storage to keep you logged in and to remember your saved favorites. The site can’t work properly without these.
• Analytics. We use cookieless Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and cannot identify you across sites — so there is nothing to opt out of. We do not use Google Analytics or advertising cookies.

How long we keep it

We keep account information for as long as your account is active and as needed for the purposes above. When you ask us to delete your account, or once we no longer need the data, we delete or anonymize it. Published contributions may remain in the library as part of the public collection.

How we protect it

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information, and we rely on established providers like Auth0 for authentication. No system is ever completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.

Children

Dex is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Residents of California (CCPA/CPRA) and Virginia (CDPA), among other regions, have specific rights, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell personal information.

Do Not Track

There is no agreed standard for “Do Not Track” browser signals, so we do not currently respond to them. If a standard is adopted, we will update this notice.

Updates

We may update this notice from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “last updated” date at the top of the page, and for significant changes we will provide a more prominent notice.
